Facebook Acquires FriendFeed

blogging Facebook Acquires FriendFeedNews on the street is that Facebook has just acquired FriendFeed.

This seems like good news to me. I started out a strong proponent of FriendFeed. I loved the real-time, interactive feel that allowed people to share thoughts, links, and comments (like Twitter, but with no 140-character limit). I loved that it pulled all my various social media activity into one place. What I didn't love is that most of my friends did not use FriendFeed. After awhile, FriendFeed felt (to me, at least) like a place for the tech-savvy, big-time social media playahs. The Twitter for Techcrunch-ers.

Facebook is more widely-used by a more varied audience. While we don't know exactly what it means for Facebook, the acquisition will hopefully enable more and more of FriendFeed's features to  be implemented on Facebook.
