I've been answering a lot of questions about "what to wear" lately, and from swimsuits to cocktail dresses, my advice is the same: focus on the FIT! It doesn't matter what size it is, what color it is, or what the print looks like as long as a garment FITS you well. Here are some tips to ensuring a good fit:
1) Know your body type. There is a great series of videos on VideoJug about what looks good on the different body types. Figure out which shape your body is most like and then try to find clothes that are flattering to that particular shape.
2) Choose clothes that flatter your figure, not HIDE it. Pick clothes that show off your best features. Don't wear baggy things that will just camouflage everything. This does not look good on ANYONE.
3) Don't play the numbers game. Don't be attached to a certain size you are used to wearing – or wish you were wearing. Concentrate on the fit, not the digits on the tag!
4) Buy clothes for the body you have now. Don't buy things that will fit better when you lose 5 pounds, start working out, etc. Focus on purchasing clothes that look good on the body you have now and that you FEEL good in!
Follow these tips, and be prepared before you shop, and you'll be on your way to a fabulous fitting wardrobe!
