WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH AN OLD PAIR OF JEANS, AN OVER-SIZED TEE SHIRT, A GRAPHIC TEE, OLD SWEATER, AND USED WOMEN’S JACKET?
Welcome to the second installment in our series of repurposing thrift store finds! In this piece Leah Friend, budding designer, used an old men’s tee shirt and old sweater. She took the sweater, made a cowl neck out of it (just cut and stretched, and seamed edges), and took the tee and made a skirt (using the torso portion of the oversized tee). Stitching those 2 pieces together, she made a dress. To add some pizzazz, she found an extra piece of fabric to add a pocket – a cool little detail that takes this dress from classic to funky.
The cost of this entire outfit? $8 plus some time and thread. With the belt, the total comes to $12.
More frugal fashion to come next week – stay tuned!

Oh, what one great alteration can do is amazing. Now to get my sewing machine out of the box and figure out how to use it ( it's been two years since I bought it.
