My husband works out of his car. He is frequently out and about somewhere and needs directory assistance. Our wireless carrier charges him $1.75 each time he calls 411! {gasp!} That adds up really quickly. So I was really excited when he discovered 1-800-FREE 411 a few months ago.
1-800-FREE 411 is just like 411 except that it is, well, free. You will reach an automated service that asks for the location, then the type of listing (business, residential or government) and then for the name. Then they will even connect you.
The only catch is that while they are connecting you, you will hear a 12 second ad. That is well worth it to us. Listen to a 12 second ad and save $1.75? Sounds pretty good to me! My husband has been using 1-800-FREE 411 for a few months now and has had no problems using the service so far. They have always had the listing he was looking for.
