Hugs and Kisses by Chrisophe Loupy and Eve Tharlet
Summary:
One day Hugs the dog wakes up early in search of something. He visits all of the farm animals and collects kisses from them. During his quest, he discovers that a kiss from his mom is the best kiss of all! Cute, cute book that young children (and moms) will definitely enjoy! Perfect for Valentine’s Day, or any other day when you just want an excuse to kiss your kids!
Valentine Activity: Stained Glass Hearts
Supplies:
Iron
Ironing board
Towel or scratch paper
Crayons
Manual pencil sharpener or scissors
Waxed paper
Construction paper
Glue
Directions:
1. Plug in your iron and put it on a medium setting. Put a towel or paper on your ironing board to prevent damage.
2. Shave crayons using a pencil sharpener or scissors onto a piece of waxed paper. Two or three colors look nice. When you have a nice pile of shavings, melt the shavings between two pieces of waxed paper using the iron. (I like to place a towel on top of the waxed paper) The longer you iron, the more the colors will mix. Let cool. (shavings don't match completed project)
3. Cut a heart shape out of two pieces of construction paper.
4. To assemble, place one heart on the table and glue your waxed paper, or “stained glass” to the heart. Then place the second heart over the first making sure the patterns match up. Glue together.
5. Trim off the excess waxed paper.
6. Hang in your window to enjoy!
