Welcome to the new world order.

The Synopsis
Inspired the by the students, Will composes a mash-up for a very special occasion. Meanwhile, in a shocking reversal of roles, McKinley High's cool kids are dethroned in an "icy" fashion, and Sue shows off her softer side. (Fox.com)

The Soundtrack

The Quotes

  • No, no, no, I picked Hawaii because it’s far away from everybody that we know.
  • I had a monster case of athlete’s foot a few years ago and had to have all my toenails removed. So if she steps on my toes, I might pass out.
  • Okay…don’t really have any pamphlets on how to be popular…
  • I know it was a dream, because there’s no way Rachel could have climbed up the wall outside my room with no shoes on.
  • Are you questioning my bad-ass-edness? Have you seen my guns?
  • Bros before hi-hos, dude. Don’t forget that.
  • You sunk my battleship, Rod. You sunk it hard.
  • What big showdown? I thought you and Sue had that last week.
  • I know how picky you are about the products you put on your face.
  • I can’t be caged in, Sue. That’s why I got my tiger tattoo.
  • I’m a stud and I can’t even hang on to a girl like you. No offense.
  • You’ve never been hit with a slushie, Mr. Shue?

My Thoughts

  • I’m going to go on record and say that I’m a fan of Will’s singing and dancing. However, I’m not sure it’s what we call “appropriate” for him to be singing Bust a Move to high school girls or dancing with half the women teachers in that school.
  • I liked it when Rachel sat up – literally – and took notice when Puck (or Noah, as she calls him) started playing the guitar. Isn’t that so true to life? What girl doesn’t love the Guitar Guy?
  • Not nearly enough Kurt for me tonight. But the moments he had were brilliant. His face when Will tries to get him to bust a move and his touching hands with Mercedes during Sweet Caroline? Pitch perfect.
  • You know what I like about this show? Besides the music and the teenage angst? The way they’re showing growth in the male characters. Last week Will learned to stand up for himself. This week, Ken grew a backbone and told Will exactly what I’ve wanted to say for two months now – back off, Mr. Married Man!
  • Emma was beautiful in her new wedding dress. Almost like a red-headed, neurotic Audrey Hepburn. (And oooh! Emma can sing!)
  • Sue and Will dancing? Made. My. Night.
  • And Sue’s zoot suit? There are no words.

My name is Mary, and I live in Kansas City. I’m married to my high school sweetheart (cue the “awwww”), and we have a smart, feisty and completely adorable toddler. No, I am not biased at all. I work full-time in public relations, I love to take pictures with my fancy-schmancy digital camera (on automatic, thank you very much, I have no idea what all those settings are for), I’m always trying – and rarely succeeding – to lose weight (this would be Exhibit A for this blog’s title), and I am a big fan of lists.

  1. I loved the softer side of Sue!!

But I agree. My #1 problem with the show is that half the songs they sing would NEVER EVER EVER be allowed in a high school. It's just unrealistic. There are a bazillion appropriate songs, could we please go with those?

    I loooooved Emma's dress!

Couldn't have said it better myself. Love that show and I love your take.

Love me some teenage angst with a side order of slushie.

    Bros before hi-hos.

This episode was just awesome! I saw a clip of the "Thong Song" part earlier this week, and I was like WTF? but it made my night to see it!!

I agree that there are some "Um, no" parts (like Bust a Move).

But wow! What a great episode to keep us cackling for the couple weeks of crappy baseball ;)

  4. My only problem with the show is that there is enough drama and yet they bring something new in every episode to pull at my heart strings.

I loved everything with Noah and Rachel. Honestly. I like that they are showing depth to his character. And it was nice to see Rachel happy for a change.

  5. After all the hype, I gave in last night and watched. I'm hooked. LOVE IT!

  6. i just started watching this show with a bunch of my friends (love it) but we all want puck/noah and rachel to become a long term romantic item!
