We don't cook, we gourmet and for the love of all that's decent in the world, yes, we will rearrange our living rooms 15 times until it's just right.
Oh yes, if you're like me, you do the job and you do it right or you don't do it at all. Well in The Lazy's Girl's Guide to Good Health, we learn double gasp that perfectionism isn't always a must when it comes to eating healthy. Breathe in….now let it out. - Golden rule: 9 servings of fruits and veggies per day. Rather than driving yourself insane trying to squeeze all of that in, nutrionists say that 5 servings is good enough to lower your risk of stroke and provide significant antioxidants and fiber to reduce heart disease and cancer.
- Golden rule: 30 minutes of cardio, 5 or more days per week. Researchers say that getting in about 17 minutes a day is good enough to reduce stroke and heart disease by as much as 27%. Breaking up the 17 minutes into smaller increments is just as effective too.
- Golden rule: use SPF 30 or higher several times a day. Good news; using SPF 15 regularly blocks almost 93 percent of harmful rays–SPF 30 blocks about 97 percent. Since most women tend not to use sunscreen, using a face lotion with SPF 15 is a BIG improvement
So, you see? Good enough isn't as bad as I thought you thought it'd be. So, before you drive your family and spouses insane with your perfectionista tendencies, just remember good enough is sometimes not a bad way to go!
