If you’re looking for cheap and easy ways to make your bathroom more “green” then this is the post for you! I recently “greened” my bathroom and it only cost me $10! Here’s how I did it…
Low-flow Shower Head
Government regulations mandate that shower heads use no more than 2.5 gallons of water per minute (gpm), but you can buy a shower head that uses even less than that. A quick trip to WalMart (or Amazon) found three low-flow shower heads, all at different price points. I got the one with the lowest gpm – 1.6 – and it also happened to be the cheapest one at $9.88. Installation was a breeze; it was faster and easier than putting up a new shower curtain.
Low-flow Toilet
Replacing a toilet is expensive, messy, and time-consuming. But that doesn’t mean you can’t make your existing toilet more eco-friendly! I had some bricks out on the patio and I wrapped one of them in duct tape and put it inside my toilet tank. This displaces some of the water, meaning that your toilet uses less water for every flush. Just be careful when you put the brick in that you don’t put it on top of anything.
Bathroom Accessories
Bamboo is a great material for your bathroom accessories because not only is it a renewable resource, but it’s naturally anti-microbial. Target has a great line of bamboo bath accessories at a Target price point.
They also have organic cotton towels to complete the look. Of course, the most eco-friendly option is to reuse/repurpose something that you already have. For example, I’m using an old glass pedestal bowl for my everyday jewelry. And don’t forget to take those old towels to your local animal shelter, they’ll be more than happy to take them off your hands!

These are great ideas. I am not the most environmentally conscious person, I admit it. But these are things even I could do. Thank you for the ideas!
