I love, love, love multi-tasking, especially online. Sometimes my husband uses my laptop and it makes him nuts the number of programs I have that notify, pop-up, ding and beep. But it works for me. If you are also a lover of information overload, check out this neat tip for putting any page in your Firefox sidebar. This works well for mobile and iPhone versions of web sites. It also works well for Twitter if you're not inclined to use one of the many cool desktop apps to follow your fellow Tweeters.
- Go to the web site of your choice. I'm using my Twitter page for this example.
- Bookmark the page and click "done."
- Go to your bookmarks and hover over that one you just bookmarked, then right click and select "Properties."
- When the Properties box comes up, click on the "Load this bookmark in the sidebar."
- Click "Save Changes" and you're done.
When you select the link from your Bookmarks, it will load in your sidebar and look like this:
My favorite application of this is the iPhone version of Google Reader which enables me to see my recent feed updates in the sidebar while I'm working in my browser. I also use it for FriendFeed.
