Up until recently, I was a domestic mess. I don't like to cook, I don't like to clean, and I'm not stellar at either. I DO love taking care of my kids, and making sure my brows are waxed, but ya know, the rest I have a hard time getting passionate about. Finally, a few weeks ago when my son started kindergarten, I decided it was time to take the plunge and PUT MYSELF ON A SCHEDULE. I was scared, I'll admit it. Scared of failing at it and scared I'd hate it. So I started out making a pretty reasonable, somewhat flexible schedule, and you know what? I LOVE it! And it WORKS! My house is now picked up every day, we have clean dishes, and even – gasp!- clean clothes to wear! I'm so happy I took this step. Here's my schedule – it works for me, and I encourage you to try your own!
Mornings M-F
7:30-8:15 breakfast, check email, blog
8:15-8:45 exercise
8:45-9:30 shower, get dressed, get daughter dressed
9:30-10:00 bloggy business
10:00-10:30 dishes
10:30-12:00 errands, play time
12:00-12:30 lunch
12:30 – 1:00 chores
1:00 – 2:00 OPEN
2:00 leave to pick up son from school
CHORES BY DAY
Every Day – sweep & vacuum living and dining room
Tues – laundry, sweep kitchen floor
Thurs – dust, clean bathrooms

I've created a schedule, also, and it does help a lot. But, something in me always starts to rebel against it. I guess it's the procrastinator in me!
I do like how you left an "open" slot. This may be what I need in order to stay on track!
Thanks!
This is a great idea……..schedules, like goals; give us some direction and discipline. They require us to take a step away from what's the norm and what's comfortable and require us to stick to a written plan. There is only one outcome; we accomplish more. Great post and good looking blog.
I always find I get lots more accomplished with a schedule – I'm not very good about following it – need a lot more discipline I guess! But at least I know where to start when I get my running shoes on in the morning
Kristin (Just me The Mom)
I am glad I am not the only SAHM whos laundry is never done and no matter how many times I wash dishes a day I still seem to have to wash them before I cook. I love the taking-care-of-my-children and PTO mom part but I cant seem to get a grasp on the household. And when ever I do get one step foreward my girls are in the next room doing something like dumping a box of rice krispies all over my bed (yes that has happened before and my room also acts as a storage space as we dont have many closets, therefore the messiest room in the house and I was not looking foreward to cleaning that up)!! It seems like I am always ten steps behind.
I also do much better when I have a schedule for myself. I've been slacking lately and need to get back to being organized!
I am hyper-organized in many ways, probably to the point where I should take medication. However, I still don't get a lot don't finish a lot of the stuff that I need to get done. Laundry, cleaning, etc. I know I need to make a schedule, the hard part is following the schedule.
