I sometimes have a hard time with the blissful part of blissfully domestic. At times, I’m cranky, out of sorts, and tired, which is not much fun. I need to do something to help put me in a more blissful state of mind, so with Spring on the way, I have decided to start running.
When my husband and I first met almost 12 years ago, I was running up to five miles a day. Boy, I was in great shape, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Engaging in a high aerobic activity like running really gets those endorphins pumping, making you feel confident and happy. It’s time I got in touch with my endorphins again.
A lot has changed since my husband and I met. We got married, had three kids, moved away from our friends and family, and bought a business. I stopped running long ago, and it’s time I get started again, especially since I’m in my early forties now. Being physically strong as I age is important.
Now that the snow has melted, I’ve been out walking/running several times a week. To help me stay focused on my goal of building up to three miles a day, I did a little Googling around and found some great sites that offer plans to help me build up to 3 miles. This site called Cool Running even offers a schedule to help those who are couch potatoes get to a 5K run. I found some great sites for moms who enjoy running, too:
How are you working to be more blissfully domestic? Danielle at Extraordinary Mommy decided to have a yes day for her kids. Stop by her site and take a look. Maybe her strategy will work for you, too.

I remember lots of things I did before I got married. But after we’ve added a husband, kids, pets, etc – we tend to forget to take care of ourselves. I actually have to remind myself it’s OKAY to take some time to care for me! Finding the time and the motivation can be tricky but, a good support group helps keep you on track! Good Luck!
i did the cool running program 2 summers ago. i lost a ton of weight and felt great. had i not dislocated both knees (yeah…thanks to my over-paid trainer’s bad advice), i would be doing great now. i still hope to get back to it. there was time (before triplets) when i loved to run. i miss that endorphin rush!
Speaking of working out, in college, my friends and I worked out to video called “Super Stomachs” by Joanie Greggins. It’s only 12 minutes, and it’s great! I need to do it again, but it’s hard to find the time when I’m chasing my 12 month old all day!
I just cut my weekly class at the Y because we just have so much to do to get our house ready to sell. I know I really need that every week, but…*sigh*. You know how it goes!
I started a work out routine this week too..walking before the kids get up and my husband goes to work. it feels so good! Congrats on your routine. It does lift me from my cranky mood
