I am Blissfully Domestic – Week 28

I hope all you moms had a wonderful Mother's Day. Mine was nice, although it was my husband who got out to play a round of 9 holes of golf. Hmm. How'd that happen?

But it was a nice weekend. My parents came up to visit and they, like all Grandparents, came bearing gifts.  My son was thrilled to see they brought with them a kite, and it was a huge one, too.   On Saturday we all headed out to fly it. Although it was overcast, there was plenty of breeze.

I know it looks like a bat but it's a monster truck kite.

i am blissfully domestic I am Blissfully Domestic Week 28Here is my dad is helping my daughter hold onto the handle. My six year old son was too busy jumping around in excitement to stand still long enough to fly the kite himself. My 17 month old was napping so he missed all the fun.

He's an engineer (he designs heat-treat furnaces for heat treating metal) so if it's too difficult for him to figure out, then it clearly was poorly designed.  Seemingly, that kite company doesn't understand the KISS method. Keep it simple, stupid.

It must have been abouat 400-500 feet in the air.

So all in all, we had a lot of fun on Saturday even though it was cloudy and cool.

Aren't kites great? I found many times kids love the simplest gifts. How many times have they played with the box a toy came in instead of the toy itself? Kara-Noel at Eli's Lids has some great ideas about making simple, homemade, and recycled bath toys. Stop by and check them out.

  2. How fun! My husband and son love flying kites together. My son got a nice one for Christmas and he can't wait to put it to good use!

Its been fine kite flying weather here, if you don't mind the rain. Mary Poppins could cross the Atlantic in record time!
