I have been uninspired lately when it comes to photography. Having one child in full-time school and another in part time preschool is busy. Throw in a part-time return to work and life is wiping the floor with me. Suffering through one of the coldest (and snowiest) Canadian winters that I can remember has left my camera gathering dust (Figuratively, not literally. I take good care of my baby.)
I find that photography is like writing. If you get out of the habit it is that much harder to start again. I have managed to keep up the writing but the photography has taken a big hit.
I stumbled upon an article that discussed photographing colour, as opposed to photographing a subject. I got to pondering about colour on one of my (many!) drives to school. For years, my favourite colour was blue. Navy blue, to be precise. I branched out to other shades of blue, as I find it to be a peaceful colour.
The blue was lonely. It needed a friend. I found the perfect friend in Red. She is kind of hot.
While our house is pretty inundated with wood, blue and red are prominently on display. They seem to be a good mix.
When trying to get my groove on with my camera I thought that maybe I should focus on red. Inspi(red), or so it seems.

the utensils I use to can (Jar?) the salsa.

Strawberries.

Apples from a friend's orchard.

I thought I should wander our property to see what red I could find.
Honey wearing his “Lumberjack jacket”.

I think it needs to “accidentally” be sent to the thrift store.
One of Honey’s clamps.

The taillight on our trailer.

I know. A tail light. But it’s red!
Leaves from a bush along the driveway (I don’t know its name!)

A tennis ball.

Let us finish with something pretty. The following is a red gerbera daisy.

Daisies are my favorite flower.
It felt good to press the shutter button and focus on something different than the same old, same old.

when I need to be inspired I end up surfing around on flickr for a while and that always seems to get me in the mood to photograph something. I also love taking walks around my neighborhood & looking at things thru my lens.
I go for a drive into Downtown for inspiration. There is just so much to see that it kicks it back into gear for me.
Love this idea! I sometimes just turn the camera on and walk around the house photographing things that seem "boring." Before long, I find myself doing a serious study of something, and finding out that one person's boring is another person's (re)inspiration.
Great post! I love the process of focusing on a color. very nice idea!
