I don't normally make resolutions for the new year. This year, I do have some overall goals. One of my goals for 2009 is to be a better wife. I decided to make a mini-resolution each month of 2009 to work toward that goal. January's resolution: Finding ways to be good to myself.
I wanted to revisit my action steps to see how I did. Please feel free to do the same at home or in the comment section if you joined me in a monthly resolution.
My action steps for meeting January's resolution:
- Sign up for BlissDom '09. Check!
- Join the neighborhood book club. Check!
- Read the book and attend the book club. Half credit on this one. I read the book but missed the meeting. I noted the wrong date on my calendar.
- Attend my Mom's Club mom's night out without children. Half credit on this one too. I was scheduled to attend but it was canceled at the last minute.
- Walk on the treadmill at least 25 minutes 6 days a week. Check (most of the time)! I substituted the walking with the 30 Day Shred some days but I am trying to make sure I get some exercise most days.
- Get my hair cut without taking children along. Fail.
- Go to a store (grocery store doesn't count) by myself – even if just to browse. Check! I made it to Target a couple of times and the bookstore once.
I didn't complete each of my action steps but I feel good about the progress I made. I was conscious of the need to do things for me and did them when I was able.
Look for February's resolution soon.

Congratulations, I'd say the month was a success!
