Kid Pix: To Bribe or Not to Bribe?

I've seen this topic discussed many times on many different photography websites. And now I'd like to hear your opinion.

Do you bribe your kids in order to get good shots of them?

I'll admit it. I'm a briber. And often it serves me well.

Bribery.jpg (432 KB)But during this particular session with my daughter during a week-long stretch of 3 digit days, I should have offered her something other than an ice cream cone. Because all my bribe got me were lots of shots of 5 year old pretending a lick a scoop and dreaming of which flavor she'd choose.

So I'm curious. Do you bribe your kids? And what do you use? Because I need some new ideas. . . .

haha, my kid would have rotted teeth if I bribed her for every picture. She went through a phase where she hated taking photos. She would literally hid under the table. She did always have an interest in my camera. So we gave her, her own digital camera and once she learned to love taking pictures, she learned to love to take pictures. We also do a 365 project of my daughter and I and I let her help decided what our picture is going to be. This gets her excited about posing. Good Luck!

Hi Punk, great idea! I should drag out my daughter's Fisher Price camera next time we go to take pictures. And I like that 365 idea also.

    Thanks for the comment!

  3. also, bribe with things that will make your photos insteresting, things like bubbles, sidewalk chalk..stuff like that. it totally distracts them from the fact that you are taking their photo!!
