Liar, Liar: Beauty and Skincare Myths Revealed, Part 2

Serenity

Yesterday, we uncovered popular myths surrounding beauty and skincare. And today, we’ll continue to separate fact from fiction.

  • Tanning booths are safe ~ FALSE. It is true that tanning booths filter UVB rays but you’re still exposing your skin to UVA rays which are just as dangerous (they penetrate deeper into the skin)
  • I don’t need sunscreen on a cloudy day ~ NOT TRUE. Regardless of whether the sun is out or not, UV rays are still being emitted to the earth’s surface. So, wear sunscreen every day.
  • If I have a pimple, it’s okay to pop it ~ TRUE but only if it’s done correctly. Popping pimples seem like a good idea but in essence it can cause more harm than good-it can cause scarring or inflammation. So, when popping a pimple use a comedone extractor. They’re sold at most beauty supply stores.

Do you know of any myths surrounding beauty or skincare that we didn’t cover? If so, do share! I’d love to go on an investigative hunt for truth, justice and beautiful skin!

Selena, Sometimes the highlight of my day is popping that big whitehead that popped up overnight. Do not take that away from me. ;)

Do you like to eat ice cream before bed, or is it just us?
