Last summer, with a CSA membership and a wonderful Farmer's Market at my disposal, I signed up for the One Local Summer Challenge. It's a challenge organized by Farm to Philly encouraging participants to eat one meal each week made entirely of local ingredients (with the exception of salt, pepper, oil and spices). More than 100 people from all around the world participated last year and I'm anticipating that, with local eating making the news in some big ways, this year will have an even bigger turnout.
If you participate, the only thing you have to do is make a local meal each week and then post about it on your blog (or write a short description if you're not a blogger) and send the link or description to your regional coordinator. The coordinators will post weekly regional round-up posts at Farm to Philly. You'll want to check them out for wonderful new recipe ideas and fantastic bloggers, too.
Sign up for One Local Summer and join me in discovering new foods, learning more about local eating, getting creative in the kitchen and supporting local farmers. The challenge starts June 1st, so don't wait too long!
