Make Your Bedroom a Sanctuary

a sanctuary

We all know the importance of sleep and the overall health benefits a good night's rest can have on our bodies and our minds.  But, we often forget to treat our bedrooms the same way.  Here are some simple tips to help you make your bedroom become a sanctuary:

  • Minimize distractions by removing or turning off TVs, computers, and exercise equiptment.
  • Adjust the lighting by investing in the proper window treatment that help diminish lights from electronics, phones or chargers.
  • Surround yourself with calming scents like lavender which are known to relax and soothe.
  • Invest in a "noise" machine. The calming sounds of waves or nature may help you sleep better.
  • Check the temperature to be sure your bedroom is neither too hot or too cold.
  • Adjust your pillows and mattresses for maximum comfort.

Taking a few simple steps can help ensure that your bedroom is set just right for a good night's rest.

Totally agree! I love the tips! I'd like to get lavender scents in my bedroom, and bathroom! Any suggestions on where I could get organic or non-toxic ones?

  3. Some great suggestions. One of my favorite things in my bedroom is my tabletop waterfall that is on my nightstand. I sleep so much better when it's on! Another thing to consider is the color of your bedroom walls. Muted and softer colors have a more calming effect while bright and bold colors tend to stimulate the mind.

Will you see the new Twilight movie New Moon on Friday?
