Online Resources for Algebra Students

education Online Resources for Algebra Students

It’s finally happened. Your high schooler has surpassed your ability to help with math. Whether you homeschool or simply need to find assistance with a tricky homework problem, you need good, reliable resources to find help with algebra fast.

The internet puts this information right at your fingertips. You can simply visit one of these great sites to find exactly what you need.

Hippocampus.org offers not only algebra help but also assistance with several other levels of high school math. This site is well organized and very user-friendly. You can choose a topic, go through the entire course lesson by lesson, or even look up a specific textbook. The tutorials for each lesson are detailed and well thought out, so you and your student should have no trouble following them.

Purplemath.com is another wonderful resource. This site focuses solely on algebra, but that doesn’t make it any less valuable. There are live forums staffed by volunteers where stuck students can get quick help with problems. The site also offers reviewed links for quizzes, worksheets, online tutoring, and more.

Algebasics.com offers step-by-step tutorials with verbal explanations. All you have to do is choose the topic you are stuck on, click, and then listen to the tutor explain all of the steps while you watch the sample problems being solved step-by-step.

Don’t sit and struggle with algebra problems! Save your self-esteem and your student’s confidence.

  1. We love Hippocampus.org. As homeschoolers, we're always on the lookout for new ideas and resources. I'll have to check out the other two sites you mentioned.

  2. You might also want to take a look at mathskool.com, which has short videos explaining various concepts for high schoolers/middle schoolers.

Which Halloween candy will you "confiscate" from your children?
