My son and I comment all year on things that might be fun. Over the summer these turn into conversations which generally lead to me typing out 'the plan'. We love it! Our parties all start the same way--kids decorate lunch sacks to make goody bags, then everyone gets a piece of tissue paper and has to find the 3 prizes wrapped in the same paper, followed by time to play with those treats. I might pull kids from that freeplay to do an activity 1-by-1 (like spinart for the "explosions" bday) and end it by calling everyone together for a short game (or a soda/mentos rocket).
