If you are willing and able to do all the hard work (I figure it took me around 80 hours of sanding and painting to get to this point), you can end up with a practically new kitchen for $104.

Tricks and tips-

  • Sand paper can be your friend — use it to age the edges for a custom feel. {go to Home Depart stores and check out their kitchen cabinets for ideas on how to sand yours.}
  • Don't know how to cut complicated corners for crown molding? Buy crown molding corners and all you need to do is cut the crown molding in simple straight cuts. The corners can be found at most home department stores.
  • "Go Green" and reclaim what you can — rethink, re-use, re-style.
  • Buy discontinued tile for your floor — just make sure to get enough to finish the job — because there will be no going back for more if needed.

The kitchen is not completely done yet, we still need to add tile to the floor.  {If you were going to change your existing flooring of course, your completed project would be more} I just wanted to show you what can be done with just over a $100 dollars and a little hard work.  I still have lots of work left, but it's the fun part. Decorating is fun!

    it turned out so beautiful, & $100 is nothing for a kitchen redo!

  5. So you covered up the big check-board lighting on the ceiling with some painted to match the ceiling beadboard and now have the 3-light fixture. Ah! Now that's a good solution. And you're going to have open-faced cabinets now that you have the pretty painted beadboard at the back of each upper cabinet. Wow! It looks great! I have to show my Mom what you did now.
