Quick Tips for Mapping Your Schedule Solutions

family Quick Tips for Mapping Your Schedule Solutions

When life gets busy or change starts calling our number, we default to "getting by" mode. Which is typically not a productive mode! ;-)

Thus, we need to shift from "getting by" to back-on-track, and in the direction of our dreams! ;-) This can be accomplished — once the roar of the day becomes a mere whisper — by regrouping and examining a snapshot view of our days.

Days brimming with multiple tasks — each with a priority star — require more than merely "running faster." Schedules, task-lists and identifying priorities will have a more practical and realistic fit, when we employ the notations and discoveries from a personal activity log.

Compiling an activity log, or simply journaling notations on a wipe-off board for each day, enables us to determine where the hours of our day go — how they are spent. In doing so, we become more objective and aware of why each day's passing can leave us wondering why we can't seem to accomplish anything. This "inventory" then assists us in remodeling our daily schedule, making adjustments where necessary.

Start by compiling a week of notations before mapping out your routines and a schedule.  These tools will eliminate the quandary of what to do next and the lost hours of running to and fro. Then, gradually incorporate some of the following time tips within your days:

  1. Use a timer. Timers to manage appointments of time for work, rest and play create gentle boundaries.
  2. Refresh yourself with an appointment of quiet, uninterrupted time each day. (Dare I recommend twice a day?)
  3. Shorten your daily To-Do list  items. Start with the essential tasks; be realistic about adding other tasks and appointments.
  4. Commit to a singular focus. Resign from multi-tasking; it is exhausting and counterproductive.
  5. Liberate yourself from the dread and weight of "procrastinated projects" by making a Master List.
