I think that it is probably fair to say that most of us are familiar with the traditional recycling of paper, plastic, cans, and glass. Most cities have recycling centers for these types of items and many even have curb side recycling.
But what about items like shoes, yoga mats, and computers? Can these items be recycled and if so, where?
I have compiled a short list of resources, locations, and web-sites where you can go to recycle these "non-traditional" items.
- CFL Lights: Home Depot
- Croc Shoes: SolesUnited
- Yoga Mats: Recycleyourmat.com
- Crayons (used, unwanted, broken, bits): Crazy Crayons
- Wine Corks: Yemm and Hart
- Gift Cards, Old Debit Cards, AAA cards, etc: Earthworks
- DVDs and CDs: Back Thru the Future
- Computers, Fax Machines, Floppy Disks, Printers, Monitors: GreenDisk
- Jeans: From Blue to Green
- Athletic Shoes: Reuse-a-Shoe.
If you have an item that you would like to recycle but are unsure where to take it visit Earth 911.com to find a recycling resource near you!

Great info! Thanks!!
