Don't you love selectively colored black and white photographs? They are a super way to emphasize the subject of your image. Plus, people think you spent hours working on them!
And, honestly, I probably would have spent at least one hour creating this image if I were using Photoshop. But Lightroom is a different story. It took me all of 30 seconds! Here's the recipe:
- In Lightroom's Develop Panel, scroll down to the HSL/Color/Grayscale section.
- Select Saturation from the HSL tab.
- Take the saturation down to -100 for all colors.
- Click on the Targeted Adjustment Tool, which is on the left side of this panel.
- Click and drag up on the part of the image that you want to colorize.
- If color appeared in areas where you didn't want it, click on the Saturation Adjustment Brush. Reduce saturation to -100 and brush over areas that should be B&W. Make sure that Auto Mask is checked, and you are good to go!
Don't have Lightroom yet? I can't recommend it highly enough! It has drastically shortened my workflow time when processing photos.
