Sometimes 'More Expensive' is Better!

beauty Sometimes More Expensive is Better!I have always prided myself on being pretty frugal.  It began in college and became essential when we were suddenly living on one income.  I'd plan my shopping carefully and did my best to follow sales, clip coupons, and stock up when I found a good buy.

I often took shortcuts with health and beauty products thinking that the generic or cheaper brand was just as good as the more expensive, name brand.  I was wrong. Case in point, my razor.

I used to buy my razors in bulk–by the bag. I hated the results but I was committed to my frugal spending.

Recently  I found a coupon for a Venus Embrace razor.  It retailed close to $9.00. Yes, I know–not very frugal. But I needed to find an alternative to the bulk razors and the horrible shave they left me with.   I am so glad I tried it!

The Venus Embrace has 5 blades and a soothing moisture ribbon that surrounds them.  Not only was my shave clean but it was close–closer than any razor I had tried in the past.  My legs were left soft, smooth, and hair free.  The shave even lasted 4 days longer than the shave I got with my old  razor.  I was thrilled!

So, the moral of my story is…sometimes the more expensive, name brand product is actually the best product to use–it was in this case. And maybe it is in yours.

I have the Embrace heads on a Vibrance body. Oh, Lordy! I've shaved my legs 3x in the past 2 weeks, and when I'd usually have bumps all over the place, I have just a few, and those are in the same areas I have bumps even if I didn't shave.
I love and adore the Embrace heads. Definitely worth the extra couple bucks per 8 [my husband got me the 16-pack, lol, so I won't run out].
The best part about the Venus line period: all of the heads work on all of the bodies. If you hate a head, but love the body, just try different heads. Works great!

  2. I agree 100% that these are worth it. I bought it after trying the hubs razor (Gillette Mach 3) and decided that more blades are better. The embrace is great. I also like that I can use DH's razor heads if I can't buy the Embrace heads that day.

I too agree. I am a generic buyer, but when it comes to the Venus, I won't buy anything else. It's worth the money you spend.

  4. I agree too. i haven't tried the embrace, but use the standard venus (about $4) I had bought about 178 of the disposable ones of a brand that was supposed to be good. Um, no. I cut myself all over the place.. I never cut myself with a venus. I will try the embrace soon.

  5. I too agree. I was lucky to get one of these razors as a free sample and I will never go back to any other kind of razor. I love these. I used to nick my knees and around my ankles, but not with this razor. I shave my legs every day and even with that much use these razors last longer. I've recommended them to everyone I know.
