Striped Gingerbread Cookies

Sweet Striped Ginger Cookies

These cookies are three things:

  • delicious
  • easy
  • fun

If you're like me, and enjoy the traditional snap of gingerbread cookies but, have young kids or family members who don't, these are a perfect blend!  By twisting sugar cookie dough and gingerbread dough, you create a sweet, snappy cookie that is as much a treat for the eyes as it is the palate.

These are a perfect cookie to make with your kids because they are so easy and fun to make.  These are a beautiful, tasty addition to any Christmas or Holiday treats basket.

Ingredients

  • 1 (16 1/2 oz) package of refrigerated sugar cookie dough
  • 1 (16 1/2 oz) package of refrigerated gingerbread cookie dough
  • 4 Tbsp flour, divided
  1. Pre-heat oven to 375 F.
  2. In a medium bowl combine 2 Tbsp. flour with the sugar cookie dough and blend together with your hands
  3. In another medium bowl combine 2 Tbsp. flour with the gingerbread cookie dough and blend together with your hands
  4. Shape 1 inch balls from each bowl of dough.
  5. Roll 1 sugar cookie and 1 gingerbread ball into a 4-inch rope.
  6. Lay them side by side and twist them together, then roll that out into an 8-inch rope
  7. Cut that into 6 to 8 equal size rectangle cookies
  8. place on the cookie sheet and cook for about 7 minutes, or until the edges are set.
  9. Let cool on a wire rack and devour.

With these cookies, as with all cooking with kids it isn't about a perfect product, it's about the memories, the experience and the time spent together.

So get cooking and Happy Holiday Memories!
