After weeks (or occassionally months) of waiting, the movers have finally brought boxes and boxes and boxes (who knew you had so much suff?) to your new home, put together the large items, left boxes in approximately the right room and left you alone with all your worldly possessions. What do you do first?
Let's back up a little to the day before delivery. You're anxious, you're stressed, you're excited. Before the movers arrive, make sure you are ready for them. Think about where you will want your furniture. I know it's hard to remember what you have, but try to think of a basic layout. You're going to have enough to do without dragging your 200 pound entertainment center from one side of the room to the other becuase the movers put it in the wrong place. And that king size bed that barely fits in your new bedroom? You are so not going to move that thing!
As I mentioned in the first installment, have drinks on hand for your movers. They will be working hard (especially if you are on the 3rd floor in your stairwell) and it's a nice gesture on your part to at least have drinks. I also provide lunch, but that is up to you.
