This Season's Fashion "Must Haves" & "Don't Evens"!

Wondering what to wear and what not to be caught dead in this spring? Here are some fashion must-haves and don't-even-think-about-its for spring 2009!

MUST HAVES OF THE SEASON

  • A short sleeve trench – this might be as a shirt jacket or a dress…but it is the MUST HAVE!

  • A nude color shoe – nude might be tan, might be bronze – but definitely something with an interesting heel.

  • Speaking of shoes, the gladiator sandal is also back this spring – but look for it done in new interesting ways (as a sandal boot, as a pump).
  • And finally, the huuarache. I love the way Cole Haan has taken this trend and made it their own.

  • Laser cut lace, this is a heavier lace look – not as delicate as a traditional lace – and if done as a detail on a shorter a-line skirt, it will be hot hot hot!
  • A floral print, especially a rose print or anything with a butterfly on it! The butterfly is THE motif of the season.
  • The maxi dress – every designer is showing one. Be careful with this trend, it can quickly go from trendy to nightgown. Be conscious of your stature – if you are petite – pass on the maxi dress. I found one that I love…but I am going to be hemming it to my knee (I guess then it isn't a maxi dress is it?)

WHAT IS OUT?

Every season, there are those things that need to be retired from our closets. This season, you might want to donate:

  • Logos galore – gone are the days when it was cool to wear a designer logo (or name) on your chest and on your booty
  • Paisley – the paisley look is so 2-years ago!
  • Matchy-matchy outfits are out. Don't be afraid to mix prints in complimentary hues.
  • Unstructured tops – this isn't to say that we're not seeing the empire waist and baby-doll tops, but the NEW silhouettes are more figure flattering and a little more form fitting.
  • Cowboy boots with sundresses – this was a hot trend in springs-gone-past…for now, keep that look in the past.
  • Ultra high-waisted pants - the high waist pant tried to come back, we saw it last fall…and now we're over it. Natural rise is still ok, just don't wear the pants that come half way up your torso.
  • What are you doing to update your wardrobe this spring, and what wouldn't you be caught dead in?

      THANK YOU.

I'm interested to see the Christian Siriano for Payless collection. It features his signature heel, which resembles an upside down pyramid; it might be a fun nude colored shoe. (I've actually been looking around at neutral shoes!)

I've seen tons of cute maxi dresses at Target and I might actually consider getting some, although I'll probably hem them up too. (I'm only 5'4".)

    3. I like this long jacket but not in shot sleeve. I would like to have a silk blouse under it.

    4. What is a Maxi dress? Pictures please.

Will you see the new Twilight movie New Moon on Friday?
