As the wife of celebrity dog trainer, Ty Brown, we have dogs coming in and out of the house constantly. I like my house to look a certain way so this causes a problem! Which is why I have my favorite dog supplies that help me with dog smells, dog hairs, dog throw up etc. to keep my house looking like dogs don't live here!

Shedding Blade Tool–I know it looks scary but it is not! It does not hurt the dog one little bit and is the best at keeping unwanted hair out of your home. Be sure to use this tool outside, you will be amazed at how much built up hair will come off of your dog! You can find these anywhere from Amazon to Petco for under $10.

DogPause Bowl—I have a 100+ pound Rottweiler that loves to eat and drink as fast as he can which sometimes results in him throwing it up. These amazing bowls have saved me from cleaning up those messes. The ridges in the bowl MAKE the dog slow down while eating and drinking. You can find these at DogPauseBowl.com for only 12.95 a piece!

Deodorizers—To keep my carpet smelling fresh I weekly deodorize the carpet with simple baking soda. I just buy a very large bag of Arm & Hammer at my local ware-house store. They do sell special boxes with scents and some that are just made for pets but I have found those make my dogs sick and can be quite pricey. For an aromatic smell I simple dip a cotton ball in a scent and place it in my vacuum bag. So when I vacuum it helps transfer the scent into the carpet and around the home.
I hope these tips have helped with you keeping your home nice while having dogs!

I don't have an inside dog, but I do have three girls under 5, and they make plenty of messes…. especially my *adorable* 6mo w/ major gastric reflux. That really makes our carpets yucky (I won't moan about my desire for hard-wood floors)! So, I am definitely going to try the cotton-ball-in-the-vacuum-bag tip. Do you think 10 cotton balls would be overkill?!
I too thank you for the cotton ball tip! My husband and I just got a 2nd dog, who seems to develop an odor much faster than our other canine friend. I'm super paranoid about my house smelling "like dog." In addition, our 2nd little friend here also sheds much more than I like. We bought the Ferminator hairbrush which is helping a lot, so I was wondering if you have tried it and have any comparison to the shedding tool you mention above??
