Continuing with my series on Wardrobe Cheaters, I bring you….Downy Wrinkle Releaser.

fashion and style wardrobe cheaters...Downy Wrinkle Releaser

I have decided that ironing is a way to punish me…therefore, I don’t do it. Ever. I will steam clothing, but the only things I’ve ironed in the past 5 years are tablecloths. Now, you ask “but, I’ve seen you, and you don’t really look rumpled – how do you do it? Downy Wrinkle Releaser!

I am amazed how many people have never heard of this product. After garments are dry, I simply spray on some Downy Wrinkle Releaser, shake the item, and poof! Wrinkles are gone! Perfect for knits, and a must for traveling! You can pick up Downy Wrinkle Releaser at any grocery store or drug store, and it is available from giant family size down to a small travel size. So put down that iron and do get some!  You won't regret it and neither will your wardrobe!

  1. Thanks for this information. I guess I have always been leary of wrinkle reducers because of the potential smell (do they have any type of perfume because some in my family are allergic), and also because of the chemicals. This post gives me reasons to check it out though.

You can check out my blog post on how to dry clothes (click the link in my name), which talks about how to avoid wrinkling clothes and quick fixes if wrinkling does occur. In that post I did not recommend wrinkle reducer, but I think I will at least reevaluate now!

  2. I love this product. I took it with us on our cruise instead of an iron (which I couldn't have anyway). My linen skirt looked great & the closet smelled much better.

  3. we took it traveling and the bottle did not like the change in pressure! (i did try to trick it before hand by pushing air out, to no avail.) but i read on jonniker's blog that you can just MAKE YOUR OWN WRINKLE RELEASER. it is just one part liquid softener and 5 parts water! now that is the way to save money!

  4. Michele – sorry that didn't work for you! I take the little travel bottles with me when I travel, and have never had a problem. I always 'safety' pack it in a zip lock, but have never had an issue.

Great tip on the make-your-own! Thanks for that!

  5. Jenna – I've noticed that I don't notice the smell at all…but it is a nice 'side effect' that if you are wearing something that has been in the closet for a long time – Wrinkle Release will help with the musty smell. I will say that when I was in Russia, I was in a part of the country that has horrible pollution – everything has a distinct smell because of it, including my clothing. I use Wrikle Release to help with that too.

  6. Taylor – thanks for the additional tips. If I could put a load in the dryer and remember it is there, I think I would be 1,000 steps ahead of where I am now! I am notorious for starting a load of laundry, and then forgetting it is there for a few days…needless to say, I end up washing and rewashing things – bad, I know!

Like I mentioned to Jenna – I don't notice the smell, I think it evaporates as it dries…but I could be used to it too. I have a lot of allergies, so I can totally appreciate the need to be cautious in trying anything new!
