Posting your images on the web can be a risk.
There are many people out there that might steal your images for their own use. Changing the resolution of the image is one way to help protect your image so that it does not look as good.
However, I recommend that you also watermark your photographs to insure that your images are not used without your permission. Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 offers a watermarking feature that makes adding a watermark easy.
Creating the Watermark
1.) Open Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2. Create a New Image. A dialogue box will open. Since most of the photos that you post on the web (on blogs for example) will be about 600 px wide or smaller, set the size to be about 400 px wide by 100 px high. Choose vector background (easier to resize, etc.) Click OK.

2.) A checkered canvas will appear on the screen. Click the text tool on the side tool bar. Change the font and font size as needed (10-12 px is appropriate). Make sure that on the font tool bar Create As Vector is selected.

3.) Click on the checkered canvas. A text entry box appears. Type what you want to appear as the watermark. Note: keystroke Alt 0169 is the keystroke for the copyright symbol. Click Apply when finished.

4.) To move the text on the canvas, use the select tool (arrow) on the side tool bar and slide into place.
5.) Double click on the layer in the Layer Palette on the right hand side. A dialogue box will appear. Click on the Layer Styles Tab in this dialogue box. In order to make a secure watermark, I suggest adding a drop shadow and a bevel (in addition to the layer) to the text. This makes the watermark much harder to edit out. Change the opacity and size of each of these effects as needed. Click OK.

6.) Save File as a PSP image.
Inserting the Watermark onto the Photograph
1.) Open the image that you would like to watermark for the web.
2.) Resize the image for the web. Select Image, Resize. Change the pixel width as necessary (i.e 600 px wide).
3.) Select to Image, Watermarking, Visible Watermarking.

4.) A window will appear. Select Browse under Watermark, Load Image. Select your select watermark. Change the size of the watermark to 100 (or else it will appear very small. Change the opacity and emboss (if wanted) as necessary on the image. Change the position on the photo as needed. Select OK.

5.) Your photograph is watermarked! It is a secure image that is hard to steal and hard to edit.
