… When it's a destination!
Few of us are totally content with our gardens {I think}. For me, despite the immense pleasure I get from mine, there's always something that could be better. I think most of us long for a larger garden, a few long for something smaller and more manageable, but the vast majority of us have to make the best of what we have. Improving it and coaxing the maximum impact from it is an enjoyable challenge that most of us would rise to….if only we knew more.
That's where the help of a great nursery comes to play. I've come up with a list of things I look for in a "Nursery" that keep me coming back for more.
- Are they friendly? Willing to help answer even the dumbest questions — do they remember your name?
- Do you have pleasant memories while there?
- Do the plants look happy? {clean, well taken care of etc.}
- Are they helpful? {giving you ideas, suggestions, etc.}
- Element of surprise — Do they stage their nursery to help you gather ideas for your yard?
Those are just a few. Taste in gardening styles vary as much as in other aspects of living, and what appeals to one person may not appeal to another. But this is the test of a good "Nursery" … Are they willing to work with what appeals to you? Do they help you create your vision, not theirs?
Having a great nursery to turn to really helps you to have a great garden. Scout out your area, test out a few, until you find your perfect nursery; it is well worth the effort. Your garden will thank you for it {it's akin to finding a great hairdresser, you know you have a great one, when people tell you all the time how great your hair looks! The same applies to your garden.}
I've found my favorite – The Greenery – check out their website-

I enjoy the Greenery in Turlock. Rick has been extremely helpful and has ordered specialty items for me. Fun! A great way to relax.
i drove by that nursery that you saw the sign for, i'm anxious to be able to go inside and check it out!
Thank you Teresa for such a great review! Next time you are in, ask for me, I don't believe I have met you!
We love The Greenery. I've been eyeing that blue fountain for about two years now!

Hi Teresa,
I remember you telling me about this Nursery before but I have never gone there. You've inspired me to take a friend and go check it out. Hope I don't get TOO CARRIED AWAY while there. Thanks for sharing all your info.
