beauty Water Never Tasted So Good: Recipes to Put Some Zip in Your Sip

Ahhh, Now THAT'S Good Water

One of my health goals this year is to drink more water. Generally, I start off strong; but after several weeks, I drop off the grid. Why? Because water is so plain, boring and tasteless that sometimes it puts my taste buds to sleep. Zzzzzzz.

What's a gal to do? Give it up? WRONG. Water is a necessity. It helps regulate our body and cell functions, hydrates our skin and assists in weight management. So what can you do? Put a bit of zip in your sip and add a little flavor

This week I made my own flavored water:

1/2 cucumber, thinly slicedbeauty Water Never Tasted So Good: Recipes to Put Some Zip in Your Sip

1/2 anjou pear sliced in strips

1/2 a lime, 1 quick squeeze

I'm drinking about six 8oz glasses every day–and that's just this week! The flavor isn't over powering, bitter nor does it leave an aftertaste in your mouth like store bought flavored drinks. Plus, there's no sugar, preservatives or dyes to contend with. It's a win-win. Need more zip? Try adding ginger, orange zest or mint leaves to your water. You'll get a pick me up that's sure to refresh you. Or make some Sassy Water. Now THAT sounds like something that's right up my alley.

What flavors would you put in your water? Are you more of a mango gal? Or strawberry? Do tell.

  1. These are great suggestions! I am trying to reduce the amount of diet soda I drink and I know that water is a great substitute, but drinking plain water is rough for me! I'm definitely going to try your ideas. Thanks!

  2. Great post. I did one similar a few months ago on ways to get more water:

I personally love cucumber slices in my water. It always makes me feel like I've visited the spa. I also like lemon too (great for removing toxins from our body) and if I'm short on lemons, sometimes I'll do a squeeze of orange. :)

Congratulations to everyone moving toward more water and less diet soda. Studies show that we are more sensitive than lab rats when it comes to the aspartame and acesulfame-potassium that they contain which cause cancer, brain tumors, seizures to name a few. Anything marked sugar-free is a buyer beware product.

The water will help flush out the toxins. We all need our bodyweight divided by 14, so if you weight 140 lbs, you'd need 10 (8oz cups) of water everyday.

A brita filter helps cut the chlorine taste from the tap water so it's a good, eco-friendly investment too!

  3. Great suggestions! I've tried the Sassy Water recipe but it wasn't quite to my liking! :) I have bought a Brita water filter pitcher and that has done wonders for drinking water. I've stopped buying bottled water which is saving money and I find myself going to the fridge for a cold glass of water instead of a soda. Something I've started trying is the Crystal Light Peach Mango Green Tea. I make a pitcher of it and try to drink it all by the end of the day. This ensures I am getting at least 8 glasses of water per day.

    Thanks for the great post!
