The folks at Penguin Group were kind enough to contact me to review a brand new cookbook, The Sweet Melissa Baking Book, by Melissa Murphy. The FUN news is that I also talked them into providing FIVE extra copies for a giveaway for our Blissfully Domestic readers. Do I love my peeps, or what?
Lets get down to the nitty gritty.
My first impression of the cookbook was that it has an eye pleasing, neat and tidy layout. The recipes are classics, but often with a twist to shake things up.
Just a few of the recipes that I bookmarked are: Mom's Banana Apple Bread, Golden Almond Fruitcake (Fruitcake!), Sweet Almond Cake with Lemon Curd and Lemon Mascarpone Frosting, and Carrot Cake with Fresh Orange Cream Cheese Frosting.
The final verdict: If you love to bake, this cookbook is right up your alley!
