iPhone or iTouch MUST Have Applications

    iPod Touch

I finally realized what all the fuss is about after I purchased my new iTouch a couple weeks ago. I can’t believe I had been missing out on so much!

You can add applications to your device, be it web-based - where the company has created modified pages of their site in order for them to be viewed via mobile device - or applications that can be downloaded directly to the iPhone or iPod Touch. The downloadable applications may be free or require payment, so be sure to read carefully before opting to download!

Ones that I’ve added and love are:

    1. Blog Platforms - You can add your blog software, such as Wordpress or Typepad and give updates on the move!

    2. Twitterific - because every twitter addict must be able to mobile tweeter, am I right? (follow me!!)

    3. Google - this a web based page modified by google. All you have to do is save the page to your home screen and you instantly have gmail, google calendar and google reader at your finger tips!

    4. Remember the Milk - another web-based application that I’ve been addicted to ever since Simple Mom wrote about it.

    5. Pick and Choose Groceries - Though it’s American-based (Canadians work in metric, not imperial) it’s very handy for creating grocery lists.

Got some you love? Tell us about it!

What Modern-Day Gadget Is Essential To Your Survival?

    Gadgets

You’re on a deserted island. Or you can’t find your husband in the crowded store. The electricity went out in your house and the phone lines are dead. Your cable company stops carrying the channel with your favorite show.

Whatever the situation, we’re curious about this:

Turn Old Photo Negatives Into Digital Files

    Sunday, October 12th, 2008

    USB Negative Scanner

If you still have photo negatives (remember those days?), you can transform them into digital files with this nifty new gadget - it’s a USB negative scanner. Just plug into your computer’s USB port, insert your negatives, and in just a few seconds, your old-school negatives are transformed into 21st century digital files.

This is helpful for a number of reasons:

    • You no longer have to hold on to negatives, thus making your home more decluttered
    • You can actually see your photos - no more squinting and holding negatives up to the light
    • You can rest assured your photos will stay with you - if you keep digital files backed up safely, then you don’t have to worry about safely storing negatives
    • You can do something with all those trapped photos - print, scrapbook, post on Flickr, whatever

Just imagine seeing your prom photos on your laptop. Won’t that be lovely.

Help Your Child Sleep With This Nifty Gadget

    Friday, October 10th, 2008

    Good Nite Lite

Now we could really use this in our family.  The Good Nite Lite is a nightlight designed to help children 3 to 5 sleep according to circadian rhythms.  Instead of waking up whenever they feel like it (such as my 3-year-old daughter), this nifty gadget is supposed to help teach kiddos when it’s time to start the day.

It’s a simple product that helps behavioral modification - a moon means it’s time to stay in bed and sleep; a sun means it’s time to wake up.  The gadget can be set to any time you want - the default is a moon from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

You can pre-order yours for $34.99 - expected availability is this month!

What do you think?  Would this be a helpful gadget in your home?  Or is it not worth the 35 bucks?
