The other day I heard a few moms talking about needing to be intentional about spending time with their second child, and it got me thinking. We need to be intentional with all of our children.
Do you find there are times during the day when you and the children are struggling in some way? Be intentional. Be proactive instead of reactive. Let me explain with a couple of examples.
- If following the routine is causing the problem, create a visual agenda so everyone knows what is expected. Preview and review the agenda to keep everyone on task. You might find you need to change the schedule around because it isn’t working with the children’s energy level or yours for that matter.
- Do you feel like you’re not spending enough time with each of your children? Be intentional by creating time for each individual child. Perhaps you can read alone with each child or play a game with each one. Also make it clear that you have designated this time to be with that particular child to send the message each child is important to you.
What ever the case may be, make observations, create a plan, and put it into action.
Do you have an example of how you have been intentional and how it has made a difference for you? Please post your idea!

This has been a theme for me lately. It is easy to let the days slip by without doing what is most important- letting my family know how much I love them.
