If your child needs to practice addition, here is the perfect game.
You will need a collection of number cards from 1 to 10. It’s good to have at least two of each number, and it’s better to have more. You can also include larger numbers, fractions, decimals, or negative numbers for older students. Spread the cards out face down on the table and mix them up.
Start the game by choosing a target number. You can use the same number for all players or pick different numbers to accommodate varying ages and skill levels. The target numbers you choose can range from the smallest number that can be made by adding two of your number cards to the largest number you wish.
Players take turns choosing two cards at random. Have them add the numbers. If the total is below the target number, the player keeps both cards. If the numbers add up to more than the target number, the player must discard one or more cards such that his or her final total is less than the target number. Discarded cards should be returned to the face-down group and mixed in. The first player to have a set of cards that add up exactly to the target number after discarding wins the round.

math
Brilliant! And now you’ve got me going… this could even make a
1) Take out the picture cards from a standard deck
2) Each player cut the cards.
4) The player who cut the lowest goes first.
3) Place the the two lowest cuts next to each other as the target to reach,
[e.g if three players cut 4, 7, 9 then 47 is the target to reach and player who cut 4 goes first]
5) If two players cut the same lowest then they cut again.
6) If 10 is the second lowest then it counts as 1 when placed next to the lowest
(e.g. if two players cut 3 and 10 then 31 is the target to reach)..
7) Make it more competitive by letting other players see what you are casting away each turn, and let them be able to pick up that last card or else an unknown card from the deck – as with rummy.
My daughter needs help with math. I think this is a great idea. Thanks.
