We see all kinds of organizing tips this time of year: organizing your pantry, garage, office, closets, etc, it’s all the rage when the new year hits. Even family organization is a big deal. There are calendars and folders and corkboards and cabinets and labels all waiting to be utilized to make your family more organized.
So, while you’re working on getting the rest of your life organized for 2010, here are 3 tips for organizing your marriage:
- You say you want to work on communication? Try synchronizing your calendars. Using programs like Google Calendar or Cozi or Airset*, you can have shared information at your fingertips. It may not completely eliminate the, “Oh, I forgot to tell you”s when it comes time to scheduling less than appealing events but it could go a long way towards making you feel more in tune with each others time management quirks.
- You say you want to be more romantic or go on more dates? Take a lesson from above and get it on the calendar! Simply Modern Mom has started Project 52: Date Nights. One date, per week equals 52 dates in one year. If you’re thinking that’s truly unobtainable, take a look at her plan. You don’t actually have to leave the house and hire a sitter to have a fun date.
- You say your marriage is right on the track? That’s wonderful! But you don’t have to wait until the bad times to make improvements. Good marriages can always be made better. 2010 Marriage Challenge is aiming to do just that. A new topic, each week to discuss together. Sounds intriguing! You could even incorporate them into your date nights.
Three simple ideas that can make a big difference. I hope they work for you!
*I was not paid or compelled in any way to mention these 3 calendar services.

These look like some great resources. Thanks!
Great little mini article. I love the Project 52 Date Nights! Its not really anything different that what we already attempt to do but the excuses on the link hit home – so we are in! Thanks!
Over the last several months we’ve started having what we call “couch dates”. We get a movie, put the kids to bed, turn off computers, sometimes have a special treat and just veg out together on the couch, watching the movie. So simple, but such a great tool for promoting time together!
I love this article. Thank you. I’m excited to start the 52 dates a year and incorporate the 2010 Challenge in these dates.
This might be of use in your marriage organization
