Last week I quipped that the 14 year anniversary was the “pickle” anniversary (since my husband and I had plans to make pickles that day and yes, I really mean canning pickles and not something else!) Technically, fourteen years of marriage warrants a gift of ivory.
We, personally, are not in the habit of buying each other anniversary gifts but if we were or if you are, Hitched has come out with their 1st Annual Anniversary Gift Guide! And their suggestions are quite creative, for example, the Ivory anniversary of 14 years could be celebrated with the purchase of a piano (OK, a bit extravagant!) or some ivory hued lingerie!
If you’re celebrating your first wedding anniversary, that’s the Paper anniversary. Hitched’s idea? A Kindle or maybe tickets to a show. Fast forward 49 years to the Golden anniversary and take a trip to The Golden State (that’s California, just in case you were wondering.) They have years and years worth of creative gift ideas!
What’s the most creative anniversary gift you’ve either given or received?

My husband is brilliant at this – I despair and look for great coffee, but he looks for really creative gifts to match the year of the, well every single year! The best one was the year of iron when he bought a waffle iron – brilliant!!! We have used it continuously ever since!!!
Today is my anniversary, so I’ve been thinking about this, too. I think the best gift I ever received was a Hebrew Study Bible, to help me with book research, from my raised-Catholic husband. Very thoughtful and offbeat, which I enjoyed!
I blogged about this issue today at my blog doubleawk:
