Can Frugality Spice Up Your Marriage?

Consider this statement from the article, A Frugal Marriage Equals More Passion, from the website The Simple Marriage Project:
I think there is a correlation between living within or below your means and passion in marriage. There is less stress. Less worry. Room for more adventure.
There is a lot of truth to that statement. And so many factors of marriage come into play. Such as,
- Finances – we all know finances are a stressor in marriage. Many people live frugally because they have to. But knowing that your sacrifices mean the mortgage is paid and there is food in the pantry goes a long way to relieving stress. Less stress = more relaxed = more willing to….you fill in the blank!
- Communication – when we’re not stressing, that hopefully means there’s less arguing. It’s simpler to communicate all kinds of things from “what’s for dinner?” to “hey, do you wanna?”
- Recreation – sometimes cutting back in one area can leave a little more wiggle room in another area. Giving up cable television or pricey cell phone plans could mean the difference between the Motel 6 or an intimate bed & breakfast for a romantic getaway. Shopping consignment sales and eBay could mean filet mignon over that cheap burger place for your next date night!
Those are some of the major ones. I’m sure you can think of others! But what it comes down to is this: frugal can be sexy!

Great post. I do find this to be true. My hubby and I were without TV and had to face each other and actually talk! I know! It was great. Of course the TV came back on, but we still talk and now know how to do it.
I think Frugality has definitely spiced up my marriage. It’s like we’re in it together and we’ve only got each other to hold on to … sounds pretty cheesy, but most romantic stuff is
