My favorite scripture is found in Ephesians 3:20-21 “God can do anything, you know-far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around buy by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.” (The Message) I have leaned on and clung to this verse throughout my Christian life. It has encouraged me in difficult times and given me faith for the things I pray about.

Only recently has God shown me this verse in a new context. Knowing that God can do MORE than I can ask or imagine, am I dreaming big enough about my marriage? Scripture tells us that God will give us the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4) and that “Absolutely everything, ranging from small to large, as you make it a part of your believing prayer, gets included as you lay hold of God.” (Matthew 21:22 The Message)

I’ve been asking myself if my heart desires great things from God for my marriage. Do I ask God to do big things with my husband and I? Or have I been content with complacency, with a marriage that is good enough? Regardless of the depth of intimacy and knowledge we have of God, there is always more  available to us from Him. No matter how wonderful our marriages are, God can ALWAYS do more in us!

I encourage you to give God room to surprise you by asking for BIG things, and knowing by faith that He hears and answers all who call on him. Don’t settle for a “good” marriage when God would desire a FANTASTIC marriage for you!
