I have heard from so many women in the past 24 hours. I have heard stories of days that are packed full and of the feelings of helplessness to change any of it. The demands of work and children’s needs are overwhelming. Add in other demands, such as going back to school, caring for aged parents and outside responsibilities, and women simply wonder when they will have a moment to breathe. It is no wonder that so many women report losing their libido and just being too tired to enjoy life.
My research on the best ways to handle the stress of such constant demands gave me some ideas.
- Remember to take a few moments through the day to be aware of your breathing. Many times when we are stressed our breathing becomes shallow and this increases the bodies stresses even more.
- Take better care of your health. Get no less than seven hours of sleep each night. Long term sleep deprivation causes weight gain, fatigue and depression.
- Lean on your support systems. Prayer, loving friendships and the enjoying the feeling of being ‘understood’ are all powerful ways we restore ourselves.
If you find yourself crazy busy this week try to incorporate these three behaviors in your day. Even in the world of Superwomen who do it all, we all need to remember to take care of ourselves.
