It’s been said (by a lot of very smart women) that marriage takes work. I have come to be a believer of this, so I have decided to take the “work” of my marriage on the road!
My marriage has come to a complete stand still and I can’t really pin-point exactly where or when this happened. It’s been crying out for attention for a long time but children, work, grocery shopping, bills, even catching up on the DVR has come before our marriage.
I think the day to day nonsense of life has led us to that proverbial rut. The one where it becomes normal to not have grown-up conversation for weeks at a time or heaven forbid not have sex for a month. I know all the newlyweds out there are thinking: Girl, that will never happen to me and my man. Whatever sister, it can and it will. This is not to say that I wish the marriage doldrums on you or anyone else. I just want you to realize that monotony can creep into any relationship. However, it’s our job to recognize it before it becomes the beast that eats marriages.
Spice It Up!
We’ve played the blame game and now I’ve decided to take my marriage and my bliss into my own hands. I’m on a mission to get the groove back into my marriage—yours too if my powers can reach you. Will you join me?
I want to present you with some new ideas or maybe just some old ones you can retry with a new approach so you can see your marriage in a fresh light. Through this journey I want us to become the women we want to be so our husbands can see us as the women of their dreams…or at least the one they married!
Of course, this list won’t be complete without the thoughts and ideas of my blissful readers. I can’t wait to hear your ideas of great places to go and activities to do as well.
Early disclaimer, you can’t fix a marriage with food, drinks or a vacation you’ll need to refer to another post for that. Look at this new blissful series as a tune-up for your relationship.

Wow, what timing! I’ve been married 14+ years and yesterday went to TJ Maxx (no Victoria’s Secret nearby) and bought my first sexy-ish lingerie! It even had garter straps. Yeah, I had no clue what to do with those. But the reason I did it was for the exact same reason you just talked about: wanting my husband to feel like he is married to a woman who is desirable. I felt kind of silly because that’s totally not “me,” but my marriage isn’t just about “me” either. Can’t wait to hear all of your great ideas!
I’m in!!! My fiance and I are not even married yet and I can see that down the road we will run into a few raod blocks here and there. Erika, I’m listening!

count me in …coming up 20 yrs for us. So a tune up is definitely in order….total overhaul and rebuild.
I personally could use time, money and a babysitter to spice up my marriage. We’re getting there however…we’ve been fasting, reading the Bible and praying together everyday.
Awesome! Count me in. We’ve been married 7 years and counting…
