Now that got your attention, didn’t it? And it got the attention of the members of Fellowship Church in Grapevine, TX when Pastor Ed Young challenged his congregation (well, the married ones that is) to have sex for seven days in a row!
Now being the feminist that I tend to be, red flags went up in my mind when I read about a male pastor telling people to have sex for seven days in a row. Of course a man would come up with that right? Then I saw this on Pastor Young’s blog from his wife, Lisa Young:
I’m so excited about this challenge! (And yes, ladies, I’m the one who brought the idea to Ed through a magazine article I’d found.) Why am I so excited? That’s simple. Because God has revolutionized my view of sex and removed a lot of preconceived notions I had. And I can truly value intimacy done God’s way.
This challenge is about so much more than the act of sex. This is an opportunity for marriages to get back to what God designed them to be. It’s a chance for all of us to reinforce our love for our spouses.
Being a women who very much enjoys the um, more physical parts of marriage, I was very happy to see that the seeds of this idea were planted by Pastor Young’s wife! And looking through the some of the comments left on the church’s website, I was also happy to see other wives being so supportive of the challenge.
