There are thousands of sex advice books available (a search for “sex advice books” on Amazon yielded 3, 606 results!) They vary from the “101 sex tips you’ve never thought of” (think Cosmo cover) type to the sterile, clinical, ” just the facts ma’am” type to research laden, lengthy discourses on why sex is good for you type. If you’re in the market for a sex advice book, how do you choose which one is right for you?
An article from About.com:Marriage offers this advice:
Know Why You Want A Book about Sex
Some people are looking for information. Others want to be entertained. Some may be wanting some new ideas or inspiration. It is important to know how you expect a book to help your relationship.
• Do you want a book that will improve your communication with your spouse about sex?
• Do you want a book that will help you figure out more about you and your spouse’s sexual likes and dislikes?
• Do you want to learn new techniques and tips so you are a better lover?
• Do you want to learn more about sex in general?
• Do you want to know how to handle a specific sexual dysfunction?
The article also offers sound advice on what to look for in a sex advice book.
If you don’t already have a sex advice book and are looking to get one, it can be a fun experience for you as a couple to decide on what type of book best suits you. Personally, the best sex advice book I’ve ever read is called, Sex In Marriage is Not OK – It’s Amazing!. Married couple, Phyllis and Glenn Hill wrote this book together after years of counseling young married couples.
Sex advice books can be a great way to overcome sexual hurdles in your marriage or to liven things up a bit if you’re feeling bored. Find the one that’s right for you and happy reading!
