A flexible family is a happy family!
We are continuing to focus on taking care of ourselves this week. We have quizzed ourselves and found ways to de-stress and regain balance. Today the focus is on finding and appreciating our individual interests and hobbies that bring us joy.
So often we are overwhelmed with adult responsibilities (Is everyone else shocked to be a ‘grown-up’ also?) and finding time to treat ourselves to a hobby seems impossible.
What is it you love to do? Bake, read, jog (I find this one improbable personally), sew, blog, photography, collect turtle shells. OK, you probably don’t collect turtle shells. I just wanted to make sure you were paying attention.
When we devote time to activities that bring us joy, be it 5 minutes a day or 5 minutes a week, we are happier, more relaxed and way more interesting to out hubbies. When we are busy making a bracelet or surfing on the laptop snuggled up to our Hubbies, we are less likely to insult his preference for watching the classic Superbowl game from 1976 -for the 17th time.
I often look for ways to relax and snuggle up to my Hubby while he does what he loves. I can surf for hours happily while he watches downhill skiing. Just the physical closeness and the occasional happy smile or wink added in the mix is such a nice way to end the day.
Yes, I know there is a mountain of growling and snarling laundry and Hot Wheels cars all over the floor. It can wait. Give yourself permission to enjoy life and ignore it!
Extraordinary Wives- What activities bring you joy? I would love to hear ideas for incorporating these activities in your life. We gained our 500th Extraordinary Wife today, let’s all go say ‘Hi’ and give her a wonderful welcome!
