Hello! My name is Amy and I’m going to write about marriage.
Yes, I might need a 12-step program to get started. It’s intimidating to even consider writing about marriage because I immediately think, “Oh gosh! My marriage isn’t perfect. I can’t write about that!”
But there is no perfect marriage, and I do have a lot of experience with normal, imperfect marriage. So I’m going to tell you a little bit about myself and ask you in the comments to let me know what kinds of things you’d like to hear more about.
Amy:
- Married very young and had a little girl
- Got divorced
- Married again and had two little boys
- Now has a blended family (the children are19,6, and 2)
- Has been married now for 14 years and is still madly in love with him
- Is not a good communicator
- Thinks communication is really important in marriage (I know, right?)
- Works full-time outside the home
- Thinks sex is really, really important in a marriage
- Believes that faith and prayer strengthens and protects a marriage in innumerable ways
- Knows that marriage is an intention; a continuous proactive decision to be with someone
That is a pretty good top of mind list, for a start.
I’ve been in an unhappy marriage and made the decision to leave. I’ve suffered the embarrassment (which it was to me) of saying the words “I’m divorced” and going about with a small child and no wedding ring on.
I am now married to a man that is a rock: solid, unwavering, and committed through the best and worst that life (and being married to me) can dish out. I have experienced the way passion can grow, rather than diminish, if you have a focused commitment to each other.
I am looking forward to talking about marriage and all its ups and downs here at Wedded Bliss! Please comment with topics you would like to discuss. It’s nice to be here!
