- Sell your stuff. Hold a garage sale, list your stuff on Amazon.com, eBay, or Craigslist, or put an ad in a local newspaper.
- Never spend change. Instead, collect the coins in a jar. When the jar is full, deposit the coins.
- Cook more at home and take leftovers for lunch.
- Cut back on “extras” for a week. Skip that morning coffee and afternoon soda, and wash the car yourself.
- Spend an hour online shopping around for the best deals on insurance, phone service, and banking.
- Check your house for energy efficiency before winter arrives. Many utility companies will perform a free energy efficiency check.
- Sell underperforming investments.
- Make sure you haven’t forgotten about old bank accounts or other deposits. You can search for unclaimed property at MissingMoney.com.
- Check your tax withholdings and increase your number of exemptions if you will have overpaid at the end of the year.

I’d like to add some items…
Convert your old electronics (IPOD’s, Computers, cellphones) into cash
Pay attention to your cell phone account. Especially how much texting versus talking is done on your account
If posible, convert to a “pay as you go” cell plan
Hopefully this helps.

I’ve sold some of my old electronics using Gazelle.com
