Have an Interest? Start a Business!
Recently I wrote about delaying retirement and suggested diversifying income during the time leading up to retirement by starting an online business. The thought of starting a business may seem overwhelming, but it really doesn’t have to be. It might sound expensive, but that doesn’t have to be the case either. In fact, I’ve found a business that is simple to start and doesn’t cost anything at all. It’s called Squidoo.
Squidoo.com is a place where regular people, called lens masters, create web pages, called lenses, and earn money for themselves and for charity. You don’t have to have technical or programming expertise to create lenses on Squidoo. All you need is a little bit of online experience, a free Squidoo account, and their easy-to-use workshop. In fact, if you navigated your way through the worldwide web to find this article, you have enough online experience to begin creating lenses today.
A lens can be on any topic at all. You name it, there’s probably already a lens about it. If you’re not on Squidoo, though, there isn’t a lens that has been created yet with your personal touch on your favorite topics, the ones that stir your passion, fuel your fire, ignite your interest. Have a hobby? Make a lens about it. Love to cook? Make a lens about your favorite recipe!
Squidoo really is simple, but exactly how it works and how you can make money there are topics best learned by exploring the lenses and information on Squidoo. If you like what you see, don’t hesitate to sign up. Before you know it, you’ll be feathering your nest with the money that you earn from your new business, sharing your favorite interests online, on Squidoo.
Susan52 is a member of the Giant Squid 100 Club on Squidoo, which means she’s made over 100 lenses!

Does it take very long for lenses to get traffic or if you are selling something, exposure to the net?
I have been wondering about Squidoo. I will have to check it out. Thanks for the suggestion.
Thank you both for your comments!
Janet, Squidoo gets along fantastically with the search engines. I’ve had new lenses show up on google searches within 24 hours of publishing them. Use good keywords in the module titles on your lens and use good, original content and you should have similar success.
Taylor, I hope you will check out Squidoo. I hope you love it!
Interesting!!!! One more thing for me to check out, but in this tight economy, I’d love to find another outlet to bring in some cash!
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment; I love those! I’m glad I checked out your link. Thanks for you post. It sounds interesting.
