1. Nothing worthwhile is free: This is a myth based on unsound reasoning. While it can be argued that most free offers are anything but free and they most naturally have a catch to them, there are many times when you can get free brand name stuff, free money after shopping and even test products for just signing up for that free form.
Tip: Make sure you know what you’re signing up for.
2. Registering for freebies is a spam invitation: Technically once you have an email address, you’re setting yourself up for thousands of spam letters. And in all truth, companies sell email addresses just like they sell physical mailing addresses so it depends on the freebie and whether it’s from a reputable site or not.
Tip: If you are not sure an offer is legit, create a separate email to handle it. Make sure to use only trusted sources of freebie updates. ListFreeSamples.com, for example, only uses official sources and will keep you free of spam or scam.

3. Free magazines are too bothersome: Not necessarily true. Many times, publishers list free magazines so they can charge more for advertisements as well as increase circulation.
Tip: Remember to check and double check that the subscription has a free offer and if you don’t want it, cancel it before the offer expires.
4. Everything on the net is free for all: So not true. Unless it is explicitly stated, you are not allowed to copy text word for word from websites, its called plagiarism (unless of course you give credit where credit is due). Same thing goes for graphics or pictures.
Tip: If you’re in doubt, contact the site owner and ask for permission.
5. There is no harm in requesting multiple times for the same free offer: This is something you should not do unless it explicitly states that you can. Most free offers are limited to one per customer, per family or per address.
Tip: Before you make a mistake, make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into.
6. You have to pay for legal music: So you already know that torrents and P2P networks are illegal. But that doesn’t mean all your music has to come from sites like iTunes, Zune, Amazon and Napster. Last.fm, not only has streaming music but free music from major artists like Kid Cudi, Mr. Hudson and Kanye West. Zune has freebies everyday (DRM free), and so does iTunes.
Tip: Before you spend your money on music, check out the legal free options first.
